Issue date: 2/23/06 Section: Opinion
Being back at school can be a breeze or a bummer. Fresh from holiday vacations and New Year's Eve parties, you might be ready to sail through to your next year or you might be cramming to graduate on time. Either way, make some resolutions this year that'll put a new spin on your semester.

-FIND A NEW HAPPY HOUR HANG OUT: Going to that same bar on Thursday nights is tired. It's always the same crowd, same drama. Why not change it up a bit? Grab some friends and make it a night at a new place.
WHY? You'll never meet a new hottie hanging out with the same old crowd.

-TRY A NEW KIND OF CUISINE OR LEARN TO COOK: Leave behind your old favorites and branch out in your eats adventures. There's more to life than Subway, pizza and wings-we promise.
WHY? It's a good idea to have some grown-up skills in the queue for after college.

-PLAN THE ULTIMATE SPRING BREAK: The house parties are starting to blend together into one drunken blur of a memory. Splurge a little and plan something fab for you and your friends this year. Remember: Flying to Florida for a house party there doesn't count.
WHY? You only get so many chances at Spring Break. After college it's just another week at work.

-SEE MORE CONCERTS AND GET TO KNOW SOME LOCAL BANDS: In college towns there are a slew of good shows going on every weekend. Instead of staying home and watching "Lost" on Wednesday night, hit up a local stage for live music.
WHY? So you can say you knew the band before they were famous.

-APPLY FOR INTERNSHIPS/SUMMER JOBS EARLY: Every year as summer approaches, a mass of students run at a handful of internships only to find that it's too late. Don't be a sucker this year and get in on the action early.
WHY? So you don't end up working at the Wet Seal and interning nights in data entry.

-READ THE MANUAL: Get smart and learn what that mystery button does on your cell phone or DVD player. Learn the ins and outs of your iPod and impress your friends with your tech prowess.
