Issue date: 11/23/06 Section: News
This semester Salve Regina students are studying abroad in France, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, England and Australia. They are in Paris, Lyon, London, Rome, Florence, Seville, Madrid, Cork and Sydney and their majors include Accounting, History, English, Marketing, Modern Languages, Administration of Justice, Art, Education, Cultural and Historic Preservation, Psychology, International Business, Politics and Economics. If this grabs your interest and you want to join this elite group of Salve students, read on.
The Office of International Programs, McAuley Hall 310, can provide you with the information and guidance you need to get you started on the road to your study abroad experience. We have exchange and affiliation programs with universities all over the world and we can arrange for you to study Mandarin Chinese in Beijing or Renaissance art in Florence. Or, if you prefer, you can study marine biology off the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, the largest coral ecosystem reef in the world. If you are of a more practical bent, and want to get some experience in the "real" world, we can set you up to do an internship abroad in business, or with a government or non-government agency.
You can begin by coming in to see us or by going on-line to our web page at http://www.salve.edu/programs/ipsa/index.cfm.
We will help you to plan your academic program to fit in at least one semester abroad. Right now we are preparing application materials for students going abroad in the fall of 2007. If you are a sophomore or junior, this is the time to begin the application process. Call us at 341 2372, or email studyabroad@salve.edu to set up an appointment and get started on your way.
For those of you who do not have the time or the inclination to spend a full semester abroad, you may consider enrolling in one or more of our short term programs. These programs vary in length from eight days to five weeks and all are credit-bearing programs led by SRU faculty. This year we have short-term programs to Paris (Dr. K. Lawber), Belize (Sr. Johnelle and Dr. B. Sylvia), Puerto Rico (Casey Burry), Italy (Drs. T. Wray & K Habib), Spain (Dr. J. Bethune), Rome (Drs. G. Antone & C. Allen), France (Dr. K. Habib), and England (Dr. J Hersh and Paula Bolduc). Applications are available in our office. Enrollment in these programs is limited and procrastination will get you nowhere.
