Over 50 students attended 'Tarzan' on Broadway, a trip organized by CAB.

On Sunday, a group of about 50 Salve students loaded a bus headed for New York City.

The trip, organized by the Campus Activities Board, was planned to see a Broadway performance of Tarzan at the Richard Rodger's Theater. Based on the well-known Disney movie, the production was truly an amazing depiction of Tarzan, a young boy who grows up in the jungle with a tribe of gorillas.

Seven-time GRAMMY Award winner Phil Collins contributed many of the songs featured in Tarzan. Not only was the music stunning, but the special effects of the show were larger than life-actors hung from harnesses and flew out over the seats, one dressed in an elaborate moth costume even emerging from a box suspended above the audience. The students unanimously loved the show.

Catherine Curtin, '10, "couldn't believe the talent. I couldn't stop singing along!" The coming of age tale was both inspiring and comical (Tarzan's best friend, Turk, provided much of the comic relief with his witty remarks and goofy character).

Overall, the show demonstrated an amazing amount of talent-the actors transformed themselves into believable characters and made swinging from ropes 50 feet in the air look like a breeze. Aside from the $4 water and the anticipation of waiting in line, Broadway proved itself to be an amazing experience.

If you are interested in attending a show, contact CAB for any future trips. Seats fill up fast, so plan accordingly!
