Now you see it. Now you don’t. Thanks to Proposition 8, in November of 2008 California’s LGBT residents witnessed a similar trick with their right to legally marry. Proposition 8, more commonly known among the LGBT community as “Proposition hate” revoked Californians’ right to same-sex marriages, which had only been passed in June of that year.

You go to this website multiple times a day, and before you log in you see, “Facebook: A place for friends.” Sometimes when I catch this, I giggle to myself. Is it really? It seems to be more like “Facebook: A vulnerable place where your enemies can harass you” or “Facebook: A place to upload pictures of every party you’ve ever been to.

With so much hate in this world, a certain day comes along once a year to remind us of the love we all should share. Although considered by some as a “Hallmark Holiday,” Valentine’s Day is an important date to celebrate. With Feb. 14, 2010 closely approaching, I will explain the reasons that this day should be observed and given respect among other holidays.
