One in every four women will become a victim to domestic violence in her lifetime. According to the National Coalition of Domestic Violence, most times these cases are never reported to the police.

October was Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Did you become any more aware of the issue? With the month also being occupied with important issues and celebrations such as Breast Cancer Awareness and Columbus Day, it’s hard for Domestic Violence Awareness to actually make an impact.

The highly anticipated Rent-a-Rugger event commenced in Salve Regina’s Bazarsky Hall on October 23, 2009. About a hundred students attended the exciting outing, and much laughter ensued upon the fun and humorous show that the talented sports team presented for them.

“Vampire Diaries” is a new series on the CW this fall starring Nina Dobrev (Elena), Paul Wesley (Stefan) and Ian Somerhalder (Damon). Based on the series of books by L.J. Smith, the show follows Stefan and Damon Salvatore, two vampire brothers who have returned to the town of Mystic Falls.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Dr. Romano Prodi, former prime minister of Italy and president of the European Commission delivered a speech on Oct. 21, 2009 at Salve Regina University stating that Europe has the potential for having a strong role on the world stage, but it is too disjointed to have a significant impact.

Salve Regina’s International Education Week will kick off Monday, Nov. 14, 2009. Co-sponsored by the McKillop Library and the Office of International and Multicultural Programs, the week-long initiative will feature an array of activities, contests, and lectures to encourage students to widen their cultural horizons.
