Singer/songwriter and recording artist, Syd, will perform Wednesday, March 2, at Salve Regina University. The performance will be part of the coffeehouse presentation which the Salve Campus Activities Board (CAB) puts on every other week throughout the semester.

Syd is a 22 year old pop/rock artist who plays the guitar and sings his own lyrics and is trying to make a name for himself around college campuses.

NEWPORT-Madge Thombs is a Catholic here in the Newport community and can remember when Pope John Paul II was elected pope and how it was a very exciting time for the Catholic Church. “He was very different compared to previous popes. He

skied down mountains, spoke many languages fluently, and flew around the

world to meet his flock,” says Thombs.

Hannah: That you meet all kinds of people in college and during my time at Salve I

have met my closest friends.

It’s been a little over a week since Well Fest began at Salve Regina University and Theresa Brown, associate director of Residential Life is quite excited at the response. “It’s just a fun way to educate,” says Brown, who lists upcoming events such as the Can I Kiss You Now and Fatal Vision programs as the top two events of this year’s Well Fest.
