Salve Regina students took a day-trip to New York City hoping to discover life through art. On the morning of Nov. 5, Dr. Jim Hersh and his VIA (Vital Studies for Whole Life Design) class, as well as others from the

university, got on a bus and drove four hours to see one of the world’s greatest museums – The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The 14th Dalai Lama spoke of compassion and friendship and the message of love throughout the world and throughout different religions.

Yesterday, Nov. 17, at 2:30 p.m., His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, who is the head of state and the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, visited Salve to meet with longtime friends Senator and Mrs.

Barbara Shamblin’s show, Image and Memory: Photographs of Italy, currently on display at the Newport Art Museum, is not about clear sight. Her work evokes personal perception.

“‘Why are they blurry?’ I keep getting this over and over again,” the artist said, at the Gallery Talk she gave on Oct. 13.

On Thursday, Nov. 17, the Dalai Lama will visit Salve to present a lecture titled, “A Human Approach to World Peace,” as well as, visit with longtime friends and supporters Sen. and Mrs. Claiborne Pell.
