Where are you likely to find 19-year-old freshman Spencer Kimmins on any given night? Certainly not in his dorm room. Kimmins, a Graphic Design major, frequents New York any given night to perform with his band, The Static Jacks, a New Jersey based quintet who have put out two EPs and already had one of their songs played on Nickelodeon and XM Radio.

Most people set their sights on the beautiful historical mansions when they arrive in Newport, R.I., not the ghosts that inhabit them. For Danger Radio, one of the opening bands for the Plain White T’s on April 18, 2009, capturing a ghost on video was top priority when they learned they were playing at Salve Regina.

The Comic Book Annex Shop, which is located on 314 Broadway in Newport, R.I., is one of the hidden gems of this special town. Now owned and operated by Wayne Roger Klackenbush, the store has made great leaps and bounds since it was opened over 15 years ago, in 1994.

It cannot be seen from the outside, a little treasure trove hides on the second floor of a Victorian-style office building on Bellevue Avenue in Newport, R.I. Paintings adorn the white walls, while sculptures and hand-blown glass sit upon pedestals and decorate shelves.

Everyone warned me how fast it would all fly by, but I didn’t believe them. Now, one month shy of graduation, I find myself wondering…where did the time go? I remember embarking upon my college experience back in the fall of 2005, and it seemed like 2009 was unreachable, like chasing after the horizon.
