It’s a pretty harsh world out there. Even harsher now that big chains of stores are closing, multi-million dollar companies are requiring bailouts and job opportunities are shrinking everyday. Living in this type of economy is not something that our generation is entirely ready for.

NEWPORT R.I. – For many service members serving overseas in combat, life’s luxuries become life’s necessities.

Salve Regina University’s college Democrats, Republicans and Political Science Club are coming together to provide some of these necessities to service members who are in desperate need of them.

Salve Regina is helping to bring dancing dreams alive. “The Let Loose Dance Troupe,” sponsored by Salve’s CEC chapter and the SRU Dance Club, offers hour long inclusive dance lessons, free and open to the public. The troupe meets in the Antone Center dance studio Tuesdays at 3 p.

Just last week on Mar. 2, 2009, history was made in California, but it is a day that will be remembered with mourning, anger and hurt. Three Oakland officers were fatally shot and a forth was left brain dead and later died from his injuries, all at the hand of a parole violator pulled over for a routine traffic stop.

Thirteen of Salve’s bravest student-athletes gathered together to strut their stuff at the annual Mr. Seahawk Pageant Feb. 27, 2009.

Over 600 students piled into the Rogers Recreation Center to watch the contestants compete for the title of Mr. Seahawk.
