Put on your dancing shoes and head over to Rodgers Recreation Center for the Salve Dance Company’s fall show!

Salve’s dancers will take to the stage exhibiting their talents on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Admission to Friday’s show is a can-good donation, while Saturday’s student tickets will be sold for $5. The performance will include dances in the areas of tap, jazz, ballet, lyric, hip-hop, and new this year, Irish step dancing.

Multicultural Club to Show Film on R.I. Slave Trade

Salve Regina University’s Multicultural Student Organization is sponsoring a viewing of the documentary “Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North” on Monday, Nov. 17 from 6-8 p.m. in the Rodgers Recreation Center Conference Room.

The film was produced and directed by Katrina Browne, a descendant of the prominent Dewolf family of Bristol, R.I., and talks about the slave trade in the North.

Social Work Club Collecting Winter Coats

There are many people right here in Newport who are not able to afford a good winter coat. And their resources for buying a new one this winter are practically nonexistent. You can help.

Salve’s Social Work Club is holding a winter coat drive in conjunction with several other agencies in Rhode Island.
