NEWPORT, R.I.- They seem to be everywhere. They are parked outside every building. Every time you turn a corner one goes racing past you.

Bicycles seem to be even more popular this year as both faculty and students at Salve Regina University are increasingly taking advantage of this alternate form of transportation.

Boooooom! The historic, years-old masterpiece buildings surrounding the

giant dirt pit off of Ochre Point Avenue quiver as the blast vibrates the

very foundation upon which they stand.

Previous to the earth quaking boom, piercing but harmless whistle warnings

braced onlookers, students, and faculty from the surrounding areas and

buildings.

I’m walking peacefully along my neighborhood,

enjoying the scenery and taking in the gorgeous fall weather. It’s a great day, and I’m happy as I stroll to the beat of my own drum.

However, occasionally something occurs that disrupts my Zen. A car drives by me.
