Playing with a handheld noise machine, Alex Gaskarth, the lead singer of All Time Low, relaxes before performing in front of thousands of fans at Lupo’s in Providence, R.I. Meanwhile hundreds of fans are already lined up in the freezing cold to try to get as close as they can to the stage an hour before doors open.

All Time Low, the Maryland quartet, have hit the mainstream in a matter of three years. In 2006, the band played a small stage at Warped Tour and walked around trying to get people to listen to their EP, “Put Up or Shut Up.” Since then, the band’s popularity has skyrocketed. All Time Low has opened for big acts such as Boys Like Girls and Fall Out Boy which increased their fan base. The band headlined the 2008 Alternative Press Tour and another fall tour the same year with sold-out shows almost every night.

This fall tour is sponsored by Glamour Kills, a music inspired clothing company started by Mark Capicotto in 2005. All Time Low was one of the first bands Capicotto sponsored early on. Both support each other, whether through All Time Low wearing the brand or Glamour Kills teaming up with them for limited edition shirts; Glamour Kills collaborated on t-shirts for the release of All Time Low’s latest album, “Nothing Personal.”

Capicotto’s clothing line and All Time Low have grown up in the industry together, supporting each other along the way and now joined forces for this tour. “Now we’re both at much different levels,” Gaskarth said. “We have the ability to headline a tour and he has the ability to get behind a tour. It just made sense to come together and do something as big as this so we’re really excited.”

Joining All Time Low out on the tour are We the Kings, Hey Monday and The Friday Night Boys, who All Time Low all share friendships with. Whether previously opening for All Time Low or being a fellow opening band for acts such as Boys Like Girls or Fall Out Boy, All Time Low developed relationships with each band through life on the road. Gaskarth explained how they planned to tour with friends all along on this tour so that it would create a family atmosphere and overall enjoyable experience for everyone involved. “It’s a package we knew was going to be fun for everyone,” Gaskarth said.

Gaskarth thinks this line-up and collaboration with Glamour Kills has fans excited. “I think people are really sort of getting behind the idea of this tour and people seem to be stoked about everything,” Gaskarth said. He also believes this will be one of the band’s best tours musically from tour mates to playing songs off their new album. “I expect this tour to come to an end and be really sad and worried about how we are going to top it,” Gaskarth said.

On the tour, All Time Low plans to play more new songs off of the July 2009 release, “Nothing Personal.” One song in particular that they will be playing is the first single, “Weightless.” The song brings the band’s sound full cycle, incorporating the feel of their past albums. “It’s sort of a blend of our old sound meets new sound and it’s the most mature one that fits in that category,” Gaskarth said.

It had been two years since All Time Low put out a full length following 2007’s breakthrough album, “So Wrong, It’s Right.” Since then, the band grew closer together, becoming even more like brothers. “The longer you spend together, the more there is to write about, the more that inspires you,” Gaskarth said. “You see it all come together and it just makes it all that much more worth it.”

“Nothing Personal” was also less stressful for the band to write and record. Gaskarth wrote for a while creating demos and playing around with ideas before heading into the studio. “It really came down to the wire,” Gaskarth said of the writing process for “So Wrong It’s Right.” “It became very last minute and it was all very stressful. With this record we had a lot more time to prepare for it.”

Gaskarth wants people to have fun when listening to their music both live and on CD. The atmosphere of their music and live performance is all about forgetting whatever is troublesome and having a good time. “It’s always about being sort of lighthearted and not taking yourself too seriously,” Gaskarth said. “I hope people connect with the lyrics. I hope people enjoy it. It’s just music that you’re not supposed to think about too much.”

The Glamour Kills Tour runs until Dec. 6, 2009 when it concludes in Philadelphia, Pa. For more information on the tour and All Time Low, check out Myspace.com/AllTimeLow.
