From eye-popping tribal patterns to simple beige outfits to- yes- underwear worn over clothes, this season’s runways and fashion blogs are filled with an interesting array of fads. Here is the run-down of some prevalent spring trends and how you can get the look, and if you should even bother trying out the trend.

Boyfriend vest

Perfect for layering, this piece is like a warm weather version of the boyfriend cardigan. You’ll be good to go pairing it with a simple tee, skinny jeans and some ballet flats. Or you can dress it up with slacks and heels. Although the material for these vests tends to be lightweight, you can pair it with a long sleeve shirt in the fall for a piece that can function in multiple seasons.

Available at Old Navy for $24.50 or American Eagle Outfitters for $34.50

Tribal print

Tribal prints are back…with a vengeance. These prints are popping up on skirts, dresses, tops, swimwear, outerwear and accessories. Be careful not to tribal overload and try to start out small. Grab an accessory or two to coordinate with the safer solids already in your closet. If you feel like splurging, a shorter tribal print skirt could work well with a solid top.

Multicolor scarf available at Oak for $48.00

Military Wear

If you want to march in style, march with the army this spring. Wear a long trench coat, which is especially cute worn with a pair of black boots. Military style khaki pants are also hot this season, but be careful to pair them with a simple shirt, such as a white t-shirt. To add a little bit of sass to an outfit, add a camouflage accessory or shirt. Don’t overdo it, however. You don’t want to look like you are ready to enlist!

Simple and Sweet

Basic outfits in beige and light colors are proving that less may be more this season. This can quickly become bland, however, so if you are going to rock nude colors, make sure to mix it up. Wearing red lipstick with a nude dress is simple yet stunning. A lot of designers are also choosing to mix this trend with feminine ruffles and clean-cut tailored lines. While you don’t want to get boring, wearing a basic colored outfit every now and then can be a very simple yet classy breath of fresh air.

Avoid: Innerwear as Outerwear

A trend for the truly daring! It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Lady Gaga was the inspiration for this risqué runway fad. Models are strutting down the runway with lingerie over their clothes and peeping out of see-through shirts. This trend is “revealing” itself in runway shows and fashion blogs, but if you really want to try this out, be careful! Lady Gaga and the equally wacky world of runway fashion may be able to get away with wearing underwear over clothes, but it’s probably not a fashion statement you want to wear to class.
