The Newport Historical Society, along with the Salve Regina University Press is proud to be sponsoring an illustrated lecture on Newport architecture on Wednesday, October 26.

The lecture will be presented by Dr. James L Yarnall, an assistant art professor at Salve Regina, followed by a book signing of his new book, “Newport Through its Architecture: A History of Styles from Postmedieval to Postmodern.”

This first-ever book by the Salve Regina University Press chronicles a comprehensive history of America’s greatest architectural sites – Newport.

Complete with hundreds of color photographs, drawings and illustrations, this book is a must for anyone with an appreciation for Newport’s rich architectural heritage.

Dr. Yarnall was recently named to the editorial board of the American Art Journal, the leading journal of American art history. He also received a bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College and received his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Chicago.
