Your Official Fall 2018 Playlist

As October draws to a close, the temperature rapidly drops and the leaves begin to change colors; it’s safe to say that Fall is in full swing. While we may be mourning the loss of the warm days and long nights of summer, there’s a lot to love about fall in New England! The scenery, the pumpkin spice everything, sweater weather, but most importantly Mosaic’s Fall Playlist! Here are our top 10 songs for every fall mood:

1. Campus by Vampire Weekend

Because no fall playlist is complete without a Vampire Weekend song or two, Campus, off of the band’s now ten-year-old debut album, is an autumn essential. This quick, lighthearted song’s university-inspired lyrics and playful rhythm might just inspire you to grab a pumpkin spice latte and take a stroll around campus.

2. Man on the Moon by Zella Day

This 2016 single from singer/songwriter Zella Day, is the perfect upbeat indie-pop song for a crisp autumn day. The dreamy lyrics and sweet vocals are the perfect complement to sweater weather.

3. Golden by Hippo Campus

Golden is the third single off of Hippo Campus’ recently released sophomore album, Bambi. On this album, the Minnesota based five piece experiments with new sounds as well as a new level of honesty and vulnerability. The lyrics of Golden demonstrate this renewed transparency, while maintaining the guitar driven exuberance of their past work, making it the perfect song to sing along to in the car, or to hum along to on your walk to class.

4. It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You) by The 1975

This newly released single off of the upcoming album “A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships” has all of the trappings of a song by The 1975: a poppy synth beat, atmospheric guitar and drums, and a vaguely 80s feel. Its pining lyrics are romantic yet fun, making it this fall’s go-to song if you’re crushing hard.

5. Potato Salad by Tyler, The Creator and A$AP Rocky

This recent single by rappers Tyler, The Creator and A$AP Rocky is chill enough to listen to on a gray fall day, but still preserves the signature lyrical playfulness of Tyler’s other work.

6. Beige by Yoke Lore

This romantic, acoustic song is the last track on Yoke Lore’s 2017 EP, Goodpain. It’s a vulnerable, tender ballad that is perfect for unwinding with a cup of tea after a long day.

7. Don’t Let Me Down by The Beatles

This Beatles’ classic is perfectly wistful and romantic. This song, written by John Lennon and released in 1969 is a timeless piece about opening up to love, which makes it great for easy fall listening.

8. What is Love by Lera Lynn and Dylan LeBlanc

This acoustic, almost ethereal tune by Texan Lera Lynn, is perfect for a rainy fall day. It’s nostalgic lyrics, and folksy sound go flawlessly with a cup of hot chocolate and a stormy night.

9. This Must Be The Place (Naïve Melody) by Talking Heads

This iconic love song by ‘80s pop rockers, Talking Heads, is great for a fall drive with your significant other. Its sentimental lyrics and signature blend of funky percussion and electronic beats are an interesting and unique combination which makes for a song you’ll want to play on repeat.

10. Nights by Frank Ocean

The last song on this playlist is the popular Frank Ocean track, Nights, from his 2016 album, Blonde. It’s a five-minute masterpiece featuring deeply personal lyrics and a transition that’s become famous among fans. It’s reminiscent lyrics and chill beat make it an ideal accompaniment to autumn nostalgia.
