“Hitch”: A Delightful Romantic Comedy

The movie “Hitch”, directed by Tennant, produced by Lassiter and Zee, and written by Bendinger, definitely qualifies as a must see movie.

In the movie, Will Smith brilliantly plays a dating consultant, Hitch, who is well known as a miracle worker in the world of dating. Smith’s career turn to a leading romantic man was a wonderful turn for him to make; he plays the part as if an expert.

Hitch works strictly from referrals and finds it very essential to remain anonymous as New York City’s “date doctor.” His line of expertise aids men in getting to a third date with the women of their dreams; then Hitch lets the men take over and try and keep the women on their own with all that he has taught them.

Hitch meets a meek accountant, Albert, played by Kevin James. James’ role is pure comedy. James is able to make his audience pity his character’s weaknesses; he is also able to make the audience laugh out loud at his wording and his actions.

Hitch learns that Albert is desperate to be with the glamorous heiress Alegra Cole, played by Amber Valletta. Hitch decides to help Albert-in doing so they go from a business to client relationship to a friend relationship. While Hitch is helping Albert he finds himself not only with a new friend, but longing for a dream women of his own.

Hitch learns that his dream girl comes in the form of a gossip columnist named Sara Melas, played by Eva Mendes. Mendes does a brilliant job portraying a seductive but sweet character.

She keeps Hitch on his toes and the audience glued to the screen. Hitch goes from the ever smooth and suave date master to a bumbling embarrassment during every date.

Not only do the dates turn more disastrous every time, but Sara is searching for a new “big scoop” for her column. What would be a better scoop than revealing who New York City’s date doctor is?

This movie is certainly one to see. It draws you in with twists, romance, and comedy. This is a superb movie that will positively capture you without…a hitch.
