Mosaic Fashion Editor,

Hola from Barcelona Fashionistas!

It has been two months since my anxious self arrived in bustling, colorful Barcelona, Spain. I have two more busy months left on my study abroad adventure, and it is safe to say I have taken the most advantage of what this dynamic city has to offer.

From Gaudi’s architecture that makes one stop and wonder in awe, to the nightlife that ends when the sun rises over the Mediterranean, “Barca”- as the local chicos call it, has me inspired in every way.

Above all, I am swarmed with feelings of nostalgia, but not the homesickness kind (although those Dunkin Donut cravings do not seem to be going away). My nostalgia is driven by the people I see around me. My daily commute to campus on two metros gives me the opportunity to people-watch more than ever.

Oversized denim jackets and printed leggings paired with high top sneakers are the style norm here, and every time I notice it, I cannot help but reminisce the Full House days when DJ Tanner and younger sister Stephanie would sport these exact same outfits daily.

What is even funnier is that old school boy bands have made a big comeback, so when I am sipping on my morning Cafe con Leche, it is not unusual to hear Nick Carter singing “I Want it That Way” in the background.

Whether it is the thought of my childhood days coming back to me or the fact that I will always be a die-hard Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls fan, these new styles have left an impression on me. This only proves history will always tend to repeat itself, but only if we allow it to.

In my opinion, and I am sure I speak for a lot of people out there, the 90s may not have been the trendiest era, but boy, was it fun!

I think nowadays life moves too fast and we all grow up too fast, as the more casual and slow atmosphere in Spain has taught me. I know I want to cherish my childhood and youth as much as I can. Thus, I fully support repeats of 90s styles, because that little gist of youth will always bring spirit and liveliness into one’s frame of mind.

The only question is, are we all ready to start sporting leggings with elastic ankle wraps again?
