Nan’s Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce Recipe

By: Clare Daly | Staff Writer

This recipe is an original from my great-grandmother, Mina Officer Powers, known in the family as Nan. She was a first generation American by Scottish immigrant parents, so she had to be creative with Thanksgiving and came up with this fruity version of cranberry sauce. My grandmother still makes this recipe every Thanksgiving. Enjoy!

You will need:

1lb. of fresh whole cranberries

1 cup of sugar

2 Granny Smith apples, pared and sliced

¼ cup of crushed canned pineapple

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl of your choice.
  2. Bake covered, at 350 degrees for 50 minutes in a 2 quart casserole dish
  3. Chill before serving.
  4. Store covered.

Happy Thanksgiving!
